How to prevent moisture
We all know that moisture is a big requirement for the black mold to thrive. Moisture is the key ingredient for mold growth because mold can feed on water for survival. While mold growth does not require too much water, a small amount of vapor or condensation is enough to make it develop and healthy. What we are trying to say here is that, once moisture is prevented then the chances of mold growth in your homes decreases as well. How do you prevent moisture inside your homes?
1. Use air conditioner and dehumidifiers. If you do not have one of these located near your bathroom and kitchen, then you might consider installing near the rooms mentioned. The bathroom and the kitchen are considered to be the two most moisture-prone rooms in your homes.
2. Increase and maintain proper ventilation. Open doors and windows as often as possible. Doing so will help prevent excessive moisture from developing inside your home.
3. In cleaning up, make sure that you use natural cleaning products. These natural cleaners are safe and
unlike commercial cleaners, they don’t pose harmful effects to your bodies and the environment. Green mold killers are also effective in getting rid of the mold.
4. Use exhaust fan. Keep your fans switched on especially inside the bathroom during and after you shower.
5. Fix plumbing leaks immediately. This is another source of moisture. When leaks are not properly given solution, steady water increases and excessive moisture begins to develop.
6. Clean your stock rooms at least twice a month. Most of us are used to leaving piles of damp rags or newspapers inside our stock rooms or attics. This does not only attract mosquitoes but also cause moisture to develop.
7. Conduct a general cleaning around the house at least twice a month. If you could do so once a week, then that would be better. Mold thrive faster in dusty and stagnant environment. Dust off furniture and appliances especially mold-prone facilities such as couches, sofas and beds.
8. Make sure to always vent your dryers, bathrooms and other moisture generating sources towards the outdoors.
Follow these tips and you are sure to veer away from excessive moisture; thus, veer away from big chances of mold growth and infection. Get rid of the black mold now and have a happy home life!
